On our way to El Chaltén we visit La Leona Petrified Forest, set in a moonlike landscape and unveiling an important fossil bed packed with petrified tree trunks and fragments of fossilized dinosaur bones, buried some millions of years ago.

In the morning scenic drive along the valley of Río de las Vueltas to Lago Desierto. From here a three hours guided hiking tour will get you to the lodge, hidden between high mountains and lush green Andean forest.
Located in shores of the lake, this secluded place invites to rest and enjoy the wonderful views of Mount Fitz Roy´s north face and Vespignani glacier on the opposite shore.

The morning is at leisure for further activities. In the afternoon the boat will take you back to pier and scenic drive to El Chaltén and El Calafate.
