HIGHLIGHTS
Iguazú Falls, Misiones jungle and Esteros del Iberá
DAY BY DAY
Transfer to your lodge in the heart of the Iberá marshlands. The immense extension of marshlands and shallow lagoons, covered by floating vegetation and drifting islands, is known by the Guaraní people as “Iberá”, which in their language means “shimmering waters”.
Daily outings and boat safaris will take you into the heart of the channels and drifting islands of Iberá, home for many endangered species such as anacondas, water turtles, swamp deer, howler monkeys, maned wolf, capybaras (the largest rodent in the world) and yacaré caimans.
Day activities at Esteros del Iberá
Along the rolling hills of Misiones province you will pass by agricultural plantations where tea and the famous mate are cultivated. In the afternoon you will reach Cataratas del Iguazú – The great waters of the Guaraní.
Visit to the Devil´s Throat, where the waters of Iguazú roar into the depth, forming a permanent hale of moisture and where the sun rays provide the illusion of magic rainbows.
The Superior Trail reaches observation points, which invite to rest and admire the spectacular panoramic views of the tumbling waters; meanwhile the Inferior Trail allows a close approach to the individual falls and the moisture laden jungle, where rainbows and butterflies contrast with the lush green of the exuberant vegetation.
The trail follows the canyon of the lower Iguazú River amidst lush subtropical forest and leads to natural terraces, where the ever changing panoramic views are simply breathtaking and culminates with a close-up view of the powerful Garganta del Diablo.
At established time transfer to Puerto Iguazú to meet the regular transfer to the superior Iguazú River and Yacutinga Natural Reserve.
The Misiones rainforest is one of the last remaining subtropical forests in South America, which covered not long ago extensive parts of Southern Brazil, Paraguay and most of the Misiones Province in Argentina. Full of exotic vegetation we explore on small jungle trails the home for more than 2.000 plant species with gigantic trees, ferns, lianas and orchids, about 400 bird species with parrots, humming birds, toucans and also nightly hunters, such as jaguars, pumas and yacaré caimans.
In the morning departure to Puerto Iguazú, transfer to airport and continue with your individual tour program.
