DAY BY DAY


Welcome at airport and transfer to your accommodation.

Get acquainted with the rhythm of the cosmopolitan city on shores of the Río de la Plata estuary during our introduction city tour.   Rest of day is at leisure.

BUENOS AIRES

Transfer to airport for flight to Posadas.  Transfer to your accommodation in the heart of the Iberá marshlands.

Welcome and introduction by your hosts and naturalist guides.

In the afternoon a walk along the lagoons and open savannahs will introduce the local flora and fauna.

The next day´s activities as well as environmental concerns, protection measures and re-introduction of regional extinct species are considered before dinner time.

BUENOS AIRES - IBERA

The immense extension of marshlands and shallow lagoons, covered by floating vegetation and drifting islands, is known by the Guaraní people as “Iberá”, which in their language means “shimmering waters”.

Daily outings and boat safaris will take you into the heart of the channels and drifting islands of Iberá, home for many endangered species such as anacondas, water turtles, swamp deer, howler monkeys, maned wolf, capybaras (the largest rodent in the world) and yacaré caimans.

Day activities at Iberá

ESTEROS DEL IBERA

Along the rolling hills of Misiones province you will pass by agricultural plantations where tea and the famous mate are cultivated.  In the afternoon you will reach Cataratas del Iguazú – The great waters of the Guaraní.

IBERA - IGUAZU

The Superior Trail reaches observation points, which invite to rest and admire the spectacular panoramic views of the tumbling waters and the moisture laden jungle, where rainbows and butterflies contrast with the lush green of the exuberant vegetation.

The Inferior Trail allows a close approach to the individual falls, meanwhile at the Devil´s Throat the waters of Iguazú roar into the depth, forming a permanent hale of moisture and where the sun rays provide the illusion of magic rainbows.

IGUAZU - Argentine Falls

The trail follows the canyon of the lower Iguazú River amidst lush subtropical forest and leads to natural terraces, where the ever changing panoramic views are simply breathtaking and culminates with a close-up view of the powerful Garganta del Diablo.  Afternoon is at leisure.

IGUAZU – Brazilian Falls

Transfer to Iguazú airport for flight to Salta.

Welcome at airport transfer to Cafayate. Leaving from Salta the road slowly ascends into the scenic “Quebrada del Rio de las Conchas”  (Shell Canyon), where nature majestically displays the power of tectonic forces and erosion.  Gradually the wide gorge opens into the extensive vineyards of Cafayate.

Rest of day is at leisure to enjoy the peaceful surrounding.

IGUAZU – SALTA

Leaving Cafayate towards the North we cross the impressive formations of “Quebrada de las Flechas” with captivating sceneries of sedimentary layers rising like enormous arrows into the sky.

We visit traditional towns and high mountain vineyards and spend the night in the quiet village of Molinos.

CAFAYATE – MOLINOS

The small and winding road leads us to the little town of Cachi, situated at the northern part of the “Calchaquies Valleys” at 2,200 m above sea level.

From here the road gently makes its way up through “Los Cardones National Park” with its tall and elegant candelabra cacti, before descending through the spectacular Cuesta del Obispo down to Salta City.

MOLINOS – SALTA

Following the tracks of the famous “Train to the clouds” we ascend the “Quebrada del Toro” to San Antonio de los Cobres and continue along the great plains of the Puna with its clear skies and endless horizons to the magnificent salt lake of “Salinas Grandes”.

Late afternoon we descend into “Quebrada de Humahuaca” through the picturesque “Cuesta de Lipán“.

SALTA – PURMAMARCA

We enclose all day to explore the hidden corners and silent valleys along the colorful “Quebrada de Humahuaca”.

HUMAHUACA

Leaving Humahuaca behind, the road winds through the humid cloud forest which covers the mountain slopes with compact and thick vegetation, locally known as the “Yungas”; a thin line of subtropical rainforest along the PreCordillera. Transfer to Salta Airport for flight to Buenos Aires. Transfer In.

SALTA – BUENOS AIRES

Day is at leisure to explore the charming corners, hidden squares and authentic little cafés, antique shops, boutiques and beautiful parks.
